Hi Lynna,

Thanks for responding! Here's a link to a yahoo map with the "star" at the
entrance to Bond Park that I use.
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=865+high+house+Rd&csz=cary%2C+nc&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=

Here's your first nav task - find the meeting spot. :) I've attached an
aerial photo showing that part of the park and a pointer to the corner of
the parking lot where we can meet.

The park opens at 9 AM, so I guess we should meet then. If we ride between
CP's, we should be able to cover a dozen of them in an hour or less. The
time also depends on whether we have any questions, how long we chat, etc.
Since I'll be riding home afterwards, I'm not looking to spend more than 2
hours in the park (but I'm pretty flexible). I'll have a snack and
camelbak with me.

Bring your compass. I'll try to pick a few CP's that you can use it on,
although most of them can be found without really needing one. You said
you had done some map and compass work before. If you tell me a little
more about what you remember how to do, I can set up something more
appropriate for your skill level. If you can determine the compass bearing
to follow to get from one point on a map to another, you've got it. That's
all you really need. The rest is contour reading and choosing the best
route.

Where we need to leave the groomed trails and roads in the park to get to
a CP, walking in bike shoes will be fine, if you have clipless pedals.
Whatever you're comfortable wearing when you hike or ride is fine. The
forecast sounds like it's going to be mid to upper 70's and clear on Sat -
very nice!

So far you're the only person to respond to my invitation. I'll let you
know when others contact me. Hopefully we'll get a few others, but we'll
see.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Don
