Charlie and I just returned from the Wild 100k MTB race at Slatyfork WV.
Needless to say we will be back next year.....the race was tough but very
fun and though the trails were muddy in spots they were sweet! We had a
good ride despite not knowing the area at all, which became apparent was an
obvious disadvantage. We ended up riding around 70 miles or so due to our
route selection, though we know of teams that rode over 80! We rode pretty
consistently all day though at times losing ground to teams that knew the
area better and chose quicker routes. In the end we pulled out our Ace in
the hole...Bushwhacking....our choice to bushwhack from CP4 to CP5 ended up
saving us around 15 miles of riding and propelled us into third place among
the two person teams. The weather was perfect...the trails
awesome..especially the downhill on Teacreek Trail...this is a definate
recommended race. We capped the weekend off doing the via ferrata climbing
course again...this time bringing decent cameras with us for better
pics...hopefully the race pics and climbing pics will be on the site
soon...

Later.......
